Lisa A. Sworowski, Ph.D., ABPP

Lisa A. Sworowski, Ph.D., ABPP joined IRFG in 2004 as Associate Director of the Neuropsychology Clinic and is an officer of IRFG. She obtained her doctorate in clinical psychology from the University of Kansas and completed fellowship training in neuropsychology at the University of Chicago. She holds an academic appointment as Lecturer in the Department of Psychiatry at the University of Chicago Pritzker School of Medicine where she teaches neuroanatomy and lectures on such topics as multiple sclerosis, substance abuse and movement disorders. She additionally supervises trainees in IRFG’s advanced forensic neuropsychology externship. In 2006 Dr. Sworowski assumed the Associate Directorship of IRFG’s Public Safety Program where she liaisons with law enforcement and fire protection agencies throughout Illinois conducting pre-employment, fitness for duty and pension disability examinations.

Prior to joining IRFG Dr. Sworowski coordinated a large-scale research grant on HIV and substance abuse at the University of Illinois. She is licensed in both Illinois and Indiana. Specialty areas of research and practice include dementia, multiple sclerosis, traumatic brain injury, AIDS-related cognitive decline, malingering, psychopathy, risk assessment of violent and sexual offenders, the relationship between severe mental illness and criminal conduct, and meeting the mental health needs of public safety agencies. Dr. Sworowski’s clinical practice involves psychological and neuropsychological assessment of adult and geriatric patients, as well as treatment of patients adjusting to neurologic diagnosis and those with mood and anxiety disorders, including post traumatic stress disorder, where she has specialty training in cognitive-behavioral approaches.
